I Graduated!!!!

Haven't updated since March, however, a lot has happened! In April, I reached my 22nd birthday and was honored to have been chosen to table at SCADs Illustration Expo. It was my first time preparing and tabling at a convention-like setting, and as stressful as it was, it was totally worth it. My family and friends showed up to support me, and it was so cool to see all my friends selling their art. I'll have to find a local market near where I live because of how fun it was to socialize and talk about my art.

After the expo, it was pretty much a straight-shot to graduation. Things moved relatively quickly, and it was soon time for application season. Like many of my peers, I was a bit discouraged by the amount of rejections or no-replies I'd gotten, but never being one to give up, I kept putting myself out there! Soon, I was able to earn a great reward, being featured in SCADs Illustrious magazine, this magazine hadn't been published since 2019 and is a showcase book for the illustration students. My work was depicted on page 127 alongside one of my good friends, making the moment all the sweeter.
Then, the big moment arrived, graduation!! I was so nervous I felt like I was going to trip over myself, fall flat on my face, and throw up. Luckily, I didn't though, so yay!!!
I graduated on May 30th, 2025, alongside my talented friends as Magna Cum Laude, with a golden chord for honors, a green chord for being a student ambassador and another green chord for being a resident assistant. Our commencement speaker was the amazing Jon Batiste!! He was so funny, and a quote that stuck out to me was, "I love 'ya even if I don't know 'ya."
I've now moved out of Savannah and back home to Atlanta. So what's the plan now? Time to put those connections to good use of course! So far, I've managed to secure a few freelance jobs, and I want to save up to afford my own place, and then get an entry-level job doing advertising, or perhaps some clean-up/grunt work in a studio!! I'll honestly take anything...except insurance.
